Odisha Youth Congress Protests PUC Policy
In Odisha, many young members of the Congress party had a protest because they were upset about a rule that says cars need a special pollution check certificate to get fuel.
The government first said this rule would start on January 1, but then changed the date to April 1 because people were having a hard time.
The protesters had a bike rally and got into a fight with the police outside the home of the minister in charge of this rule.
The Congress party wants the government to stop this rule, or they will protest even more.
The BJP party says the Congress is just making this a political issue.
Additionally, farmers are protesting because they are not able to sell their paddy, and the Congress leader says the government is not helping them.
Hundreds of Youth Congress activists protested outside Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena's residence.
Protesters scuffled with police during the demonstration against the 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy.
The Congress demands immediate withdrawal of the PUC policy within three days, threatening larger protests.
The BJP youth wing alleges the Congress is politicizing the PUC certificate enforcement issue.
Farmers are protesting on national highways demanding smooth procurement of paddy, with Congress leader Naveen Patnaik accusing the BJP government of betraying farmers.
