Iran’s president met Sheikh Khaled of the United Arab Emirates during a BRICS meeting in India.

A United Nations spokesperson said the meeting was very important.

He explained that countries involved in conflicts should talk to each other.

He also said India might help connect the sides and support peace efforts.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asked BRICS countries to oppose unilateral sanctions and attacks on civilian and peaceful nuclear facilities.

BRICS leaders called for less fighting and protection for civilians in West Asia.

They also urged a ceasefire and full humanitarian access in Gaza.
