Bombay HC Grants Bail to Activists
The Bombay High Court has granted bail to two activists, Sagar Gorkhe and Ramesh Gaichor, who were accused in the Elgar Parishad Maoist links case.
They were arrested in 2020 and have been in prison since then.
The court decided to grant them bail because other people accused in the same case have also been granted bail.
The activists have to promise to attend the National Investigation Agency's office once a month and pay a bail bond of ₹1 lakh each.
The case is about speeches that were given at a meeting in Pune in 2017, which the police say led to violence the next day.
The court thinks that the trial might not start soon, so it is fair to grant bail to these activists.
