Bisalpur Dam Opens Floodgate, Ensures Ample Water Supply
The Bisalpur Dam, which provides water to Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk, had so much water that its floodgate had to be opened.
Officials did a special ceremony before releasing water.
About 6,000 units of water flowed out into the Banas River.
People living nearby were told to be careful because of possible flooding.
This release of water is good news because it means there will be enough drinking water for the three districts for the next two summers.
This is the eighth time the dam's floodgates have opened since 2000, and the first time this early in the monsoon season.
