GCC Revises Under-Assessed, Wrongly-Assessed Properties for Tax Revision

The Greater Chennai Corporation is like the city's team that collects money from people who own houses and shops.

This money pays for roads, lights and other city services.

The Corporation noticed that some buildings were paying less money than they should.

Some owners built extra rooms or bigger areas without telling the Corporation.

So the Corporation looked at satellite pictures and records to find those buildings.

Now those owners will get a new bill with the correct amount.

This is not a tax increase for everyone in the city.

It only fixes buildings that were not paying their fair share.

If an owner thinks the bill is wrong, they can complain within 15 days and get an answer within 30 days.
