Mayawati Limits Nephew Akash Anand’s BSP Responsibilities Again
Mayawati is the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, or BSP.
She said her nephew Akash Anand can keep working for the party.
However, she does not want to give him an important leadership job right now.
She said he needs to become more politically mature first.
Akash was not at the party meeting where she made the announcement.
Mayawati said she was following the ideas of BSP founder Kanshi Ram.
Kanshi Ram believed relatives could help a party but should not automatically receive important posts or election tickets.
Mayawati also said the BSP would fight elections by itself.
She said this decision was meant to protect the party from opponents and electoral damage.
Mayawati said Akash Anand needs greater political maturity before receiving any major BSP responsibility.
Akash Anand will continue working with the Bahujan Samaj Party but was absent from Thursday’s Lucknow meeting.
Mayawati cited Kanshi Ram’s opposition to giving relatives party positions or election tickets after forming a government.
She said the decision would help protect the BSP from opponents’ tactics and possible electoral harm.
Mayawati also said the BSP would contest all elections nationwide independently and criticised the Congress and RSS.
