Extended Transport Services for New Year's Eve
For New Year's Eve, many cities in India are extending their transport services to help people travel safely.
In Mumbai, the Navi Mumbai Metro will run from 10 PM until 1:30 AM, and the Pune Metro will operate all night until 6 AM the next day.
The Central and Western Railways will also run special suburban services.
Additionally, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will run extra buses, especially to popular beach destinations.
The Mumbai Police have deployed 17,000 personnel to ensure safety.
In Kolkata, the Metro Railway has strengthened security at key stations.
These extended services and security measures aim to make the celebrations safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
CIDCO will extend Navi Mumbai Metro Line No. 1 services from 10 PM to 1:30 AM on December 31, 2025, for New Year's Eve.
The last metro from Belapur will depart at 1:30 AM, and the last metro from Pendhar will leave at 1:00 AM.
Metro services will operate every 20 minutes during the extended hours.
Pune Metro will operate throughout the night till 6 AM on January 1, with trains running every 20 minutes.
The Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro line in Pune is expected to open by March 2026, featuring 23 stations and a 23.3 km elevated line.
