Telangana Sees Significant Malaria Decline
Telangana in India has seen a big drop in malaria cases.
A long time ago, there were thousands of cases, but now there are only about 270 cases this year.
Doctors say this is because they gave out special mosquito nets and did a lot of testing.
Most of the cases now come from one area and are from workers who come from another state.
The doctors check people in villages and treat them right away if they have malaria.
They say keeping an eye on the problem and telling people about it is very important.
Telangana reported 270 malaria cases in 2023, down from nearly 14,000 in 2014.
Distribution of 7.5 lakh mosquito nets in 2022 significantly reduced malaria transmission.
Bhadradri Kothagudem district accounted for nearly 50% of the cases, mostly among migrant workers.
The state conducted 40 lakh screenings this year, with immediate treatment initiated upon detection.
Sustained surveillance, early diagnosis, and public awareness are key to Telangana's malaria control strategy.
