Conditional Waivers Approved for Construction Under Power Lines
Imagine you want to build a house, but there are big power lines overhead.
Normally, you can't build underneath them because it's dangerous.
But, the government is letting some people build anyway!
They looked at applications and said yes to some people who want to build homes, mostly in certain districts.
These people must keep their houses far enough away from the lines to be safe.
However, if anything bad happens because of the power lines in the future, they won't get any money from the government or the power company to help fix it.
The power department approved 16 of 19 applications for construction under power lines.
Exemptions were granted based on the Central Electricity Authority regulations.
Clause 136 of the regulation normally prohibits construction under high-tension power lines.
Conditional approvals are allowed for residential purposes with minimum distance maintained.
Landowners are responsible for any loss related to the power lines and won't receive compensation.
