India Seeks Duty-Free EU Access
The Seafood Exporters Association of India wants the government to help them sell seafood to Europe without any taxes.
They say this will help them sell more seafood and become leaders in the European market.
The association is happy that the government helped them when the US put high taxes on their seafood.
Recently, they have been able to sell more seafood to Europe, with a big increase in both the amount and the money they made from these sales.
They want the government to keep supporting them so they can sell even more seafood to Europe in the future.
India is also celebrating its 77th Republic Day on January 26, 2026, with the theme '150 Years of Vande Mataram'.
The President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission will be the chief guests at the celebrations.
India and the EU are also working on a free trade agreement to boost their trade relations.
Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) seeks nil duty access to the European Union.
SEAI urges the government to remove non-trade barriers to boost seafood exports.
Exports to the EU increased by 28% in quantity and 37.8% in value from April–November 2024 to the same period in 2025.
102 new fishery units listed by the EU have contributed to the increase in exports.
