Akhilesh: BJP only has money left to win UP polls
Two big political groups in India are arguing about helping women in a state called Uttar Pradesh.
Akhilesh Yadav leads the Samajwadi Party.
He says the BJP, the group in power, wants to win the next election by giving women money.
News said the BJP might give women 20,000 rupees a year.
Yadav thinks that amount is far too small.
He says women should have received much more money over the last ten years.
Actually, he says, 20,000 rupees is only four percent of what women deserve.
The BJP says it never even announced such a plan.
A BJP leader named Neeraj Singh says Yadav's promise of 40,000 rupees to women is just a trick.
Both groups say they care about women, but they cannot agree on who is telling the truth.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged the BJP is left with 'nothing but money' to win the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Yadav reacted to media reports of a possible Rs 20,000 annual dole for women in Uttar Pradesh, calling it 'another jumla' and alleging the money was 'the earnings of its sins.'
Yadav calculated that Rs 50,000 annually over 10 years would total Rs 5 lakh, making the reported Rs 20,000 proposal only four per cent of that amount.
BJP Uttar Pradesh vice-president Neeraj Singh said the party had made no such announcement and accused Yadav of making a 'deceptive' promise of Rs 40,000 to women.
Singh cited the Women's Reservation Act (Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam) and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao as BJP efforts for women's empowerment and alleged the SP used a similar tactic before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Women's financial assistance plan
Samajwadi Party (Akhilesh Yadav)
The reported Rs 20,000 dole is 'another jumla' and only four per cent of the Rs 5 lakh women deserve over 10 years; the money offered is 'ill-gotten.'
Bharatiya Janata Party (Neeraj Singh)
The BJP has made no such announcement; whenever benefits are provided under its schemes, the distribution system is transparent and money reaches those entitled to it.
Credibility of welfare promises
Samajwadi Party (Akhilesh Yadav)
In states where similar financial assistance was announced before elections, the BJP is reluctant to pay and is demanding money back, taking women to police stations, courts and cases; it could have given the money during the last 10 years but did not.
Bharatiya Janata Party (Neeraj Singh)
The SP's Rs 40,000 promise is 'only a deception,' a repeat of a similar tactic used before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, aimed at covering up the development work done by the BJP.
Women's empowerment record
Samajwadi Party (Akhilesh Yadav)
'After theft in the temple and attacks on children, the BJP has neither morality nor courage left,' and BJP workers have gone 'underground' due to fear of public anger.
