Mumbai Civic Body Resumes Road Washing to Combat Air Pollution

Mumbai’s civic administration wants to reduce pollution from dust and construction.

Commissioner Ashwini Bhide ordered road washing from October 1 to October 15.

Workers will also clean streets and cover some large construction sites.

A special officer will check whether major projects are creating pollution.

Bhide said the city’s air quality is currently under control.

She warned that poor enforcement could make the air much worse.

Officials must follow 28 air-pollution guidelines.

They were also told to remove illegal structures that cause traffic jams and closely monitor important civic projects.
