Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman Likely To Visit India Next Week
Bangladesh has a new leader, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He is planning to visit India for the first time since he became the leader.
He will meet India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The two leaders will talk about trade, energy, borders, and keeping the region safe.
Lately, India and Bangladesh have not been getting along well.
That started after Bangladesh's old leader, Sheikh Hasina, moved to India a while ago.
Bangladesh wants Hasina to come back, but India has not sent her home yet.
The two countries also need to agree on sharing water from a big river, because their water treaty ends in December.
People are not sure exactly when the visit will happen, but it could be next week or after that.
Both sides hope this visit will help them become friends again.

Relations have been strained since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in August 2024, and Dhaka has formally sought her extradition after a tribunal sentenced her to death for crimes against humanity.
The Ganges Water Sharing Treaty, signed in 1996 and set to expire in December, is expected to be a prominent discussion point, and India has invited Bangladesh to the BRICS outreach session in New Delhi in September.

Bangladesh's Stance
