Commodities Fall as Dollar Rebounds
On Friday, prices for corn, soybeans, wheat, gold, and silver all fell.
This happened because traders were taking profits and the U.S. dollar started to rise again.
The dollar's rise was partly because of news that a new person, Kevin Warsh, might lead the Federal Reserve, which makes people think interest rates might go up.
Wheat prices had been higher earlier in the week because of cold weather in places where wheat grows, but they fell on Friday.
In Argentina, crops need more rain, but in Brazil, the soybean harvest is going well, which helps balance out concerns about Argentina.
Gold and silver prices also fell a lot this week because the dollar got stronger and people were selling after the prices had gone up a lot.
Some experts think this is just a temporary drop and that the prices will go up again in the long term.
Chicago corn, soybean, and wheat futures fell on Friday due to profit-taking and a rebound in the U.S. dollar.
The dollar's recovery was supported by reports that Kevin Warsh could be the new head of the Federal Reserve.
Wheat prices had been supported earlier in the week by short-covering and cold weather in the U.S. and Black Sea regions.
Argentina's crops need more rain to avoid yield losses, while Brazil's soybean harvest is tempering concerns.
Gold and silver prices saw significant declines this week due to a stronger dollar and profit-taking.
