Unverified Lights Over Tehran Fuel UFO Debate Amid US-Iran Tensions
People shared videos showing colourful lights in the night sky over Tehran.
The videos may have been recorded near the Azadegan area, but nobody has proved exactly where or when they were filmed.
The footage does not show enough information to measure the object’s size, height, distance, or speed.
Some people said it might be a drone or several drones flying together.
Others suggested a military aircraft or an LED-equipped kite.
Some called it a UFO, which simply means the object has not been identified.
Iranian aviation or military officials had not publicly explained what appeared in the videos.
The clips became popular while the United States and Iran were exchanging threats.
The recent sighting has also been compared online with a documented 1976 Tehran sighting, but there is no evidence connecting them.
Unverified social-media videos purportedly show bright, multicoloured lights moving or hovering over Tehran.
Reports placed the possible sighting near Tehran’s Azadegan area, but the exact location and date could not be independently established.
The footage lacks reliable metadata or reference points confirming the object’s size, altitude, distance, or speed.
Online users suggested possibilities including drones, military aircraft, an LED-equipped kite, or a UFO, but none was confirmed.
The videos circulated amid heightened US-Iran tensions, including threats from Iran and warnings from Donald Trump.
