Jaishankar Urges Supply Chain Resilience and Strategic Autonomy
India’s foreign minister, S Jaishankar, spoke in Accra, Ghana.
He said countries need reliable supplies of important things like fuel, food and fertiliser.
He also said countries in the Global South should be able to build industries.
Jaishankar described India’s approach to foreign policy as strategic autonomy.
That means partnerships should give India more choices, not limit them.
He said India and Africa can work together in areas such as trade, technology, health and clean energy.
He also said India wants to share its digital and scientific experience with African partners.
His speech took place during a visit to Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia.
Speaking at Ghana’s Foreign Service Institute in Accra, S Jaishankar called for resilient supply chains in fuel, food, fertiliser and finance.
He said the Global South has a right to industrialise and described strategic autonomy as a driver of India’s foreign policy.
Jaishankar said partnerships should expand countries’ options, and linked national security to supply chains, technology and essential-goods production.
He highlighted India-Africa cooperation in trade, infrastructure, skills, humanitarian assistance, agriculture, health and clean energy.
The address came during his October 6–10 official visit to Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia.
