Zerodha to release F&O expiry margins earlier
Zerodha, a company that helps people buy and sell stocks and other investments, has made a change.
Before, when the trading day for futures and options (F&O) ended, the money traders had to put aside as a safety measure (called margins) was held back until later.
Now, Zerodha will release that money by 4 PM on the same day the F&O expires.
This is good news for traders because they can use that money right away to make more trades, especially if they want to switch to trading things like gold or oil.
Zerodha also reminded everyone that they have a special feature that lets traders use the same pool of money for both stock and commodity trades, making it easier to manage their money.
Zerodha will now release F&O expiry margins by 4 PM on the expiry day, instead of holding them back.
This change allows traders to redeploy their capital more efficiently, especially for those active in both equity and commodity markets.
The earlier release of margins enables smoother transitions between equity and commodity trades.
Zerodha highlighted its single-ledger facility, which allows clients to trade across both segments using the same pool of funds.
The update was announced on December 11, 2025, through social media platforms like Twitter and LinkedIn.
