IFC Invests $50m in Gujarat Fluorochemicals EV Subsidiary
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is giving $50 million to a company called GFCL EV, which is part of Gujarat Fluorochemicals.
This money will help build a big new factory in India that makes important parts for electric vehicle batteries.
The factory will help India make more things locally, create jobs, and be more competitive in the global market.
The company already makes special chemicals for batteries, and this investment will help them make even more.
The leaders of both companies are happy about this partnership because it will help India become a leader in making clean technology and support the country's goals for energy security and electric vehicles.
IFC is investing $50 million in GFCL EV through compulsorily convertible instruments.
The investment will help build India’s first integrated battery materials facility.
GFCL EV aims to strengthen India’s position in global supply chains and advance national priorities of energy security and transport electrification.
The company has fully integrated manufacturing capabilities for battery chemicals and a diversified product portfolio.
This investment is part of IFC’s efforts to strengthen India’s e-mobility value chain and advance the Make in India initiative.
