Maharashtra Minister Directs SOPs to Curb University Paper Leaks

Maharashtra Minister Directs SOPs to Curb University Paper Leaks

A minister in Maharashtra named Chandrakant Patil takes care of colleges and universities.

He wants to stop exam question papers from leaking out before tests, because leaking is unfair to other students.

He asked his team to write clear rules, called standard operating procedures, to prevent paper leaks.

He also wants to fix which officer or employee is responsible if a paper leak happens.

Patil told all public universities in Maharashtra to follow the same academic calendar starting in the 2026-27 academic year.

This is part of a government plan called the National Education Policy (NEP).

He asked university leaders to talk with 50 students every week and report their problems to the government.

Universities will also start a four-year honours degree programme in the 2026-27 and 2027-28 academic years.

Colleges will be grouped into clusters so they can share teachers, laboratories, libraries and other facilities.

These changes came after protests in Delhi over NEET-UG exam paper leaks and the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
