Heavy Rain Causes Rail Disruptions in West Bengal's Maldah Division

Heavy rain made the ground sink beneath railway tracks in West Bengal.

The affected tracks are between New Farakka and Kalidanga stations.

Because trains could not safely use the tracks, some services were cancelled or sent along different routes.

Railway officials first said eight Friday trains were cancelled.

The report also lists two more Friday trains as cancelled.

On Thursday, officials reported 23 cancellations, 30 diversions, three short terminations and one rescheduled train.

One train traveling from Malda Town to Anand Vihar Terminal was diverted through parts of Bihar.

Weather officials said more heavy rain and storms could occur in several South Bengal districts.

Passengers may therefore face continuing disruption.
