Pakistan Sees Steep Rise in Violence, Potentially Deadliest Year Since 2014
Imagine Pakistan is like a playground where things have gotten much more chaotic this year.
Reports show that over 46% more bad things, like fighting and attacks, happened in the last three months compared to the previous ones.
So far this year, about 2414 people have died, which is almost as many as died in all of last year.
If this keeps up, this year could be the worst for violence in Pakistan in ten years.
A big change is that more people are dying because of fighting between security forces and militants, rather than just from terrorist attacks.
The most dangerous places right now are two areas called Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which have seen the biggest increase in trouble.
Overall violence in Pakistan increased by over 46% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the second quarter.
2025 has recorded 2414 fatalities in the first three quarters, nearing 2024's total and on track to be the deadliest year in a decade.
Fatalities attributed to security operations in 2025 (1265) have surpassed those from terror attacks (1022) for the January-September period.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are the most volatile provinces, accounting for over 96% of the country's violence in Q3 2025.
In Q3 2025, outlaw fatalities (516) exceeded combined fatalities of civilians (219) and security personnel (166).
