Tata Trusts Urge Tata Sons To Explore Alternatives To Listing

Tata Sons is the company that sits at the center of the Tata Group.

Tata Trusts, which own most of Tata Sons, do not want it to become a publicly traded company.

They asked the board to study other choices instead of looking only at a listing.

The board will review the choices and then meet again to decide what to do.

The Trusts say the company had already decided to stay private in March 2024.

Two major Tata Trusts also supported staying unlisted in July 2025.

Noel Tata says the group’s charitable ownership helps fund hospitals, universities and research.

He believes a listing could change the group’s special character and public-service mission.
