Telangana, West Bengal have 70% of zero-enrolment schools: Edu Min Data
The Ministry of Education in India has shared some interesting numbers about schools.
They found that more than 5,000 government schools have no students at all.
Most of these empty schools are in two states: Telangana and West Bengal.
These two states together have 70% of all the schools with no students.
Additionally, over 65,000 government schools have very few students, fewer than 10.
This shows that there are big differences in how many students go to school in different parts of the country.
Over 5,149 government schools in India reported zero enrolment in 2024-25.
More than 70% of these zero-enrolment schools are in Telangana and West Bengal.
Over 65,000 government schools have fewer than 10 students enrolled.
The data highlights significant regional disparities in school attendance.
