Roundtable Unanimously Endorses One Nation, One Election

A group of legal experts, judges, teachers and finance specialists met to discuss holding elections at the same time across India.

This idea is called One Nation, One Election.

Most speakers said it could make governing the country easier and reduce the strain caused by frequent elections.

They also discussed how it might affect constitutional rules, police work and government finances.

Maharashtra minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha spoke in support of the idea.

Some people at the meeting disagreed, but their specific objections were not detailed.

In the end, the group broadly agreed to support the proposal.

They formally adopted a resolution in its favour.
