Trump-Xi Summit Extends Trade Truce Without Major Breakthrough

Donald Trump and Xi Jinping met for an important diplomatic summit.

The two countries agreed to keep their trade pause going for two more months.

This was not a complete trade deal.

Many difficult issues, including tariffs and technology rules, were left unresolved.

The leaders also did not reach a major agreement about Taiwan.

They did not make a substantive artificial-intelligence agreement either.

Iran-related concerns also remained unsettled.

The summit showed that both sides can talk, but it did not end their larger rivalry.
