Waqf Digitisation: 27% Success, Telangana Lags
The Indian government tried to put all Waqf properties online in a big computer system called UMEED.
They started in June and finished in December.
Waqf properties are special community-owned lands and buildings.
Only about 27% of all Waqf properties were successfully added to the system.
Some states did really well, like Punjab with 90%, but others like West Bengal only added a tiny bit.
In Telangana, they uploaded 46,482 out of 63,070 properties, but 16,700 are still pending.
Some properties are very old and have documents in different languages, making it hard to register them.
The government had meetings and training to help, but many properties are still waiting to be checked or were not approved.
Some people in remote areas didn't know about the portal, and some masjids didn't want to register because they built them with their own money.
Only 27% of India's estimated 8 lakh Waqf properties were digitised on the UMEED portal.
Telangana uploaded 46,482 out of 63,070 Waqf properties, with 16,700 still pending.
Nizam-era properties in Telangana face documentation delays due to old records in Farsi, Urdu, and Arabic.
Telangana's registration completion rate is 74%, with 32,262 properties at the maker level, 9,841 at the checker level, and 4,267 at the approval level.
Local institutions in Telangana face challenges such as lack of awareness, server issues, and hesitation to register under Waqf-by-user.
