Maharashtra Professors with M.Phil Exempted from NET Exam
Imagine over 1,400 teachers in Maharashtra who have special degrees called M.Phil.
The government has decided they don't need to take a test called NET anymore.
This change started because of a rule made in 2022.
These teachers got their jobs a while ago, between 1994 and 2009, and already have the right qualifications.
Because they are now exempt from the NET test, they can get promoted more easily.
This is good news for these teachers because it helps them advance in their careers.
Over 1,400 professors in Maharashtra with M.Phil degrees are exempted from NET.
The exemption aligns with a 2022 University Grants Commission (UGC) relaxation.
The professors were appointed between 1994 and 2009 based on their M.Phil qualifications.
The state higher and technical education department issued a government resolution on Tuesday.
The exemption makes these professors eligible for career advancement schemes.
