Columnist Argues Politics, Not Sanatan Dharma, Is the Problem

A writer named Gitanjali wrote an article about Sanatan Dharma, a very old and important way of thinking from India.

Some people were upset when she said a big student protest showed people acting with kindness and fairness, which she called Sanatan Dharma in action.

They called her unkind names on the internet, and she wanted to explain what she really meant.

She says Sanatan Dharma is about being truthful, fair, patient, listening to other people's ideas, and caring about everyone, not just your own group.

She thinks the real problem is not Sanatan Dharma itself, but the way politicians have used it.

She remembers that in 2014 many Indians voted for the BJP party because they wanted India to feel proud of its own culture again.

But she says calling people who ask questions 'anti-national' does not match the old teachings, which were full of questions and debates.

She also worries that movies sometimes show Muslim characters as bad guys, which is not fair to real people.

She hopes the government will treat everyone the same, no matter what religion they follow.

In the end, she says that being truly good is bigger than any political party, and Sanatan Dharma will survive even without the BJP.
