Pune University Professor Awarded Fulbright Climate Fellowship
A scientist named Dr. Rajani Panchang from Pune University in India has received a special scholarship to study in the United States.
This scholarship is for researchers focused on climate change.
Dr. Panchang will spend nine months at Florida A&M University.
She will study tiny sea creatures, like those in coral reefs, to understand how they are affected by the ocean becoming more acidic.
This is happening because of pollution.
She will look at real ocean samples and do experiments.
Her research will also involve studying weather data.
This helps us learn more about protecting our oceans.
Dr. Panchang is one of only four researchers from India to receive this award in her field this year.
Dr. Rajani Panchang from Savitribai Phule Pune University has been awarded the Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship 2025.
She will conduct nine months of research at Florida A&M University starting mid-November 2025.
Her research will focus on the impact of ocean acidification on marine bio-calcifiers, specifically coral reef foraminifera.
The research will involve field studies in the Florida Reef Tract and laboratory experiments, integrating atmospheric data analysis.
Dr. Panchang is the only earth scientist and one of four researchers from India awarded in this category this year.
