Allahabad High Court Bars Lawyers with Criminal Cases
The Allahabad High Court in India has made a big decision.
They said that lawyers who are facing criminal cases should not be allowed to practice law.
The court also found out that some lawyers have fake degrees and ordered the Bar Council to take action against them.
The court is worried because many lawyers have criminal cases, and some even have gangs that intimidate people.
The court wants to make sure that the legal system is fair and that only qualified lawyers can practice.
They also said that lawyers should tell the court if they have any criminal cases against them every year.
The next hearing about this is on August 20.
The Allahabad High Court ruled that lawyers facing criminal cases cannot practice law.
The court ordered the transfer of trials against such lawyers to courts in adjoining districts at least 100 kilometers away.
The Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh was directed to take immediate action against 105 advocates found with forged degrees.
The court expressed concern over the influence of criminal gangs within the legal profession and the lack of disciplinary action by the Bar Council.
Advocates will now be required to file an annual affidavit disclosing any criminal cases against them.
