Allahabad HC Criticizes Registry for Disabled Litigant's Struggle
The Allahabad High Court scolded its registry because a man with a disability had to go to the courtroom without any help.
The man had a hard time walking and the court has special facilities for people with disabilities, but no one helped him.
The judges said this was not right and asked the registry to list all the help they have for disabled people.
The court also told the police to protect the man because he was getting threats.
The couple in the case said they got married by choice and wanted to stay together.
The court said the next hearing will be on December 10, 2025, and the couple doesn't have to come in person.
Allahabad High Court criticized its registry for not assisting a disabled litigant who had to navigate the court premises unaided.
The court noted that the litigant had a locomotor disability and required assistance, but none was provided despite the court having disability-friendly infrastructure.
The bench directed the registry to file a detailed affidavit listing all accessibility arrangements available in the High Court.
The court also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Agra, to ensure the security of the disabled litigant who had been facing threats.
The personal appearance of both petitioners was exempted for future hearings, with the next hearing scheduled for December 10, 2025.
