Kolkata International Film Festival Opens with Star-Studded Inauguration
The Kolkata International Film Festival, a big movie party, has started!
Many famous people from movies, sports, and politics, like Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and actor Shatrughan Sinha, were there to kick it off.
They are showing 215 movies from all over the world, in many different languages.
The first movie shown is called 'Saptapadi.'
They are also remembering important filmmakers like Ritwik Ghatak who would have been 100 years old.
Poland is the special country they are highlighting this year.
The festival will last for a while and show films in many different places in Kolkata.
The 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) was inaugurated on November 6 at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium.
The inauguration was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, former cricketer Sourav Ganguly, and filmmakers Ramesh Sippy and Sujoy Ghosh.
A total of 215 films, in 18 Indian and 30 foreign languages, will be screened across 20 screens in Kolkata.
The Uttam Kumar and Suchita Sen-starrer 'Saptapadi' is the inaugural film.
The festival will feature a centenary tribute to filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak and special tributes to several other personalities.
