Indian Market Cap Fluctuations in Early 2026
In early 2026, the market values of some of India's biggest companies went down a lot.
Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and Bharti Airtel were among the companies that lost the most value.
This happened because investors were worried about new US taxes, the upcoming financial results, and money leaving the country.
However, some companies like ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever, and the State Bank of India actually gained value.
The overall market also had a bad week, with the main index dropping to its lowest level in two months.
Experts are watching to see how the market will do next, especially with big companies like Reliance Industries and TCS releasing their financial results.
The combined market capitalization of seven of India's top 10 most-valued companies dropped by ₹3.63 trillion in the last week of December 2025.
Reliance Industries saw the biggest drop in market capitalization, losing ₹1.58 trillion to reach ₹19.96 trillion.
HDFC Bank's market capitalization decreased by ₹96,153.61 crore to ₹14.44 trillion.
Bharti Airtel's market capitalization fell by ₹45,274.72 crore to ₹11.55 trillion.
ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever, and the State Bank of India were among the gainers in market capitalization.
