USCIS Warns of H-1B Raids in Texas
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) might be planning surprise visits to check on companies that hire H-1B workers in Houston, Texas.
These visits are to make sure the companies are following the rules, like paying the right wages and doing the right jobs.
If they find any problems, they might ask another agency, ICE, to look into it further.
An immigration lawyer named Daniel N Ramirez shared this news and gave some tips to employers on how to prepare.
Meanwhile, a former lawmaker, Marjorie Taylor Greene, has claimed that there is a lot of fraud happening with H-1B visas in Texas, with people setting up fake businesses in their homes.
USCIS's Fraud Detection Division may conduct unannounced H-1B site inspections in Houston later this month and into February.
The inspections aim to verify employer compliance with H-1B requirements, including paying the prevailing wage and performing the required job duties.
If USCIS identifies red flags, they may refer the matter to ICE for further action.
Immigration attorney Daniel N Ramirez suggests employers establish SOPs, prepare a site inspection binder, and audit H-1B issues before USCIS arrives.
Former Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed a 'massive H-1B fraud' is taking place in Texas, with applicants running fraudulent businesses from residential homes.
