Dearborn Heights Police Unveils English and Arabic Patch

Dearborn Heights Police Unveils English and Arabic Patch

The Dearborn Heights Police Department in Michigan has made a new police badge that includes both English and Arabic writing.

This is the first of its kind in the United States!

Officer Emily Murdoc designed it to celebrate the city's many residents with Middle Eastern and North African backgrounds.

Dearborn Heights has a large population of people from these communities.

The new patch is optional for officers to wear.

The police department posted about the patch on Facebook, highlighting unity and respect, and also disabled comments to avoid controversy.
