Mumbai FDA Suspends Seven Establishments Over Severe Hygiene Violations

Food safety officers inspected restaurants, clubs, hotels, and other food businesses in Maharashtra.

In Mumbai, they found problems such as cockroaches, flies, dirty equipment, and unsafe food storage.

One restaurant allegedly used a non-dairy cheese substitute while customers were offered or charged for real cheese or paneer.

At another restaurant, an employee washed his face over utensils that were supposed to be clean.

Some businesses had already been warned but had not fixed their problems.

Seven Mumbai establishments were stopped from buying, making, or selling food.

They can reopen only after fixing the violations and passing another inspection.

The larger inspection drive also found adulterated milk products and banned gutkha.

Officials seized these items and made arrests in connection with the violations.
