TRAI Mandates Pre-Tagging of SMS Variables, Revises KYC Data Sharing
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made two big changes.
First, it's telling all mobile service providers to tag parts of SMS messages that can change, like links or numbers, so they can be checked for safety.
This is to stop scams and phishing.
Second, it's changing how mobile subscriber KYC data is shared.
Now, people can give consent for their data to be checked, without it being directly shared between companies.
This is because mobile numbers are important for identity checks in many places, like banks and government services.
