Senior Citizen FD Rates Up to 8.30% in August 2026

India's central bank, the RBI, decided to keep its main interest rate at 5.25%, so banks will keep the rates on their fixed deposits fairly steady.

A fixed deposit is like a promise from a bank: you give them money for a set time, and they return it with extra money called interest.

Senior citizens, who often depend on these deposits for income, can earn up to 8.30% interest this month.

That top rate comes from a smaller lender called Jana Small Finance Bank.

Bigger government banks like Bank of Baroda offer lower rates of about 7.25%.

Even if a bank fails, savings are protected by insurance up to Rs 5 lakh per person per bank.

Experts say seniors should not pick a bank only because of the highest rate.

They advise spreading money across several banks to be safer.

Seniors who need monthly money can choose deposits that pay interest regularly, while others can let the interest grow until the end.
