Reliance Shares Rise Despite 22% Profit Fall
Reliance Industries, a big company in India, recently shared its earnings for the first three months of the financial year.
Even though its profit dropped by 22% compared to the same time last year, its revenue went up by 25%.
The company's shares went up by 1% on the stock market.
A financial advisor, Motilal Oswal, still thinks the company is a good buy but lowered their price target.
The company's energy and digital services, like Jio, are doing well, but its retail business had a weaker quarter.
The company plans to make more money in the next few years by growing its digital services and reducing its debt.
Reliance Industries' shares rose nearly 1% to Rs 1,341.20 despite a 22% YoY decline in Q1FY27 net profit.
Q1FY27 revenue rose 25% YoY to Rs 3.40 lakh crore, and EBITDA increased 10.1% YoY to Rs 54,067 crore.
Motilal Oswal retained a 'Buy' rating but reduced the target price to Rs 1,550 from Rs 1,690.
Energy and digital segments drove growth, while retail saw a 2% YoY decline in operating EBITDA.
Reliance plans to double retail operating EBITDA in three years and generate Rs 90,000 crore in free cash flow over FY26-28.
