Kolkata Metro to Save Rs 350 Cr via Substation Upgrade
The Kolkata Metro is making its power system better to save money.
They are updating the power stations that supply electricity to the trains.
The first change is at Belgachia station, switching from an older 11 KV system to a newer 33 KV one.
This should make the system more reliable and reduce wasted power.
By reducing equipment and electricity loss, as well as lowering transformer losses, they hope to save a lot of money.
They expect to save about 350 crores across the entire Blue Line, with similar upgrades planned for another station soon.
