India DGFT Allows Self-Declaration for India-EFTA Pact Certificate of Origin

India DGFT Allows Self-Declaration for India-EFTA Pact Certificate of Origin

Imagine India has a special deal with some European countries called the India-EFTA pact.

To use this deal, companies sending goods need a special paper called a Certificate of Origin.

This paper proves where the goods were made.

Before, only certain official groups could give this paper.

Now, the Indian government's trade office, DGFT, is letting the companies themselves say where their goods are from by signing a self-declaration.

This makes it easier and faster for Indian companies to send their products and get special discounts on taxes when trading with these EFTA countries.

This change helps Indian businesses trade more easily with partners in the agreement.
