UPI App’s ₹1,999 Payment Splitting Idea Sparks Fraud Concerns

UPI App’s ₹1,999 Payment Splitting Idea Sparks Fraud Concerns

A new online tool says it can split one UPI payment into several smaller payments.

Each smaller payment would be made using a different QR code.

For example, ₹4,500 could be divided into three payments.

The tool says users can collect the full amount without paying fees.

However, nobody has independently confirmed that the tool is genuine or works as claimed.

Some people worry that making many quick payments could look suspicious to a bank.

Others say the tool may not be necessary because personal UPI transfers are still free.

New rules from October 15, 2026, would charge some merchants for payments above ₹2,000.

Customers would not directly pay the MDR, which would be charged to eligible merchants.
