India Aims to Expand Social Security Beyond 101 Crore
India wants to give more people help with pensions, health, and money when they need it.
Right now about 101 crore people have some help, but the government wants to cover even more in the next five years.
The minister said that new jobs, like app‑based work, need new rules.
He also said that the government, businesses, and workers should work together.
New laws and easier ways to get money from pensions and health plans are being made so people can get help faster.
Government plans to increase social security coverage beyond 101 crore beneficiaries in five years.
India currently covers 68.8% of its population, second only to China’s 107 crore coverage.
Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stresses the need to update labour laws for AI, gig work, and new workplace realities.
Reforms include four Labour Codes, home‑based pension authentication via EPFO, ATM withdrawals, and more private hospitals under ESIC.
Goal is to make social security accessible to informal and gig workers, not just formal sector employees.
