India Launches Yoga Initiative for Seafarer Well-being
Imagine going on a long boat trip for a very long time!
Indian sailors who do this face many tough challenges.
So, India has started a special program called 'Sagar Mein Yog,' which means 'Yoga in the Ocean.'
This program teaches sailors how to do yoga and mindfulness exercises.
It helps them feel good, both in their bodies and their minds.
They will learn to be strong and happy while they are away from home.
This is like giving them superpowers to handle difficult situations.
The program has ten parts that focus on different ways to feel well, like being healthy and managing money.
It's all about making sure the sailors are safe and sound, no matter where their job takes them.
India has launched the 'Sagar Mein Yog' (SMY) initiative to promote the holistic well-being of its nearly 3 lakh seafarers.
The program, spearheaded by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), integrates yoga and mindfulness into the daily routines of seafarers.
SMY comprises 10 components focusing on physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and financial wellness.
A Learning Management System (LMS) is being introduced for seafarer training, with SMY training to become mandatory for all serving seafarers.
The initiative aligns with the Maritime India Vision 2030 and aims to contribute to the global maritime industry by producing resilient seafarers.
