India's Financial Inclusion Index Climbs to 67 in March 2025
India is working on including more people in the financial system.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) measures this with a Financial Inclusion Index, which went up to 67 in March 2025.
This index looks at how easy it is to access financial services, how often people use them, and the quality of these services.
The government has launched programs like PMJDY (Jan Dhan Yojana) and Digital India to help more people open bank accounts, use digital payments, and save for the future.
These efforts aim to reduce inequalities and boost the economy.
Financial inclusion in India improved to 67 in March 2025, up from 64.2 in March 2024.
The Financial Inclusion Index (FI-Index) incorporates banking, investments, insurance, postal, and pension sectors.
The FI-Index ranges from 0 to 100, with 0 representing complete exclusion and 100 full inclusion.
The FI-Index comprises Access (35%), Usage (45%), and Quality (20%) parameters.
Government initiatives like PMJDY and Digital India support financial inclusion.
