Jharkhand High Court Acquits Warden in 2006 Prison Escape

A prisoner accused of murder escaped from a jail in 2006.

A head warden was accused of helping him get away.

A lower court found the warden guilty and gave him five years in prison.

The warden appealed to the Jharkhand High Court.

The High Court said there was not enough reliable evidence to prove that he helped the escape.

It also said jail rules can support workplace discipline but cannot alone prove a crime.

Investigators did not properly check important records or establish the escape route.

The High Court therefore acquitted the warden.
