ISRO's LVM3 Launches Heaviest Satellite
India's big rocket, called LVM3, successfully sent a very heavy satellite into space.
This satellite, named BlueBird Block-2, is the heaviest ever launched from India.
It was made by a company in the USA.
The rocket lifted off from a place called Sriharikota and put the satellite into a special path around Earth called an orbit.
This is a big deal because it shows India can send heavy things into space and helps with future space missions.
The rocket has been successful every time it has been used, which is great news for India's space program.
The satellite will help people in remote areas get mobile network signals directly from space, even if they don't have good network coverage on Earth.
This launch also shows that India and the USA are working together in space technology.
Additionally, ISRO's Gaganyaan astronauts inspired thousands at IIT Bombay's Techfest, sharing their experiences and the mission's goals.
ISRO's LVM3 rocket successfully launched the 6,100 kg BlueBird Block-2 satellite into a 518 km circular orbit.
This is the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil using an Indian launcher.
The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on December 24, 2024, at 8:55 AM.
The LVM3 rocket has a 100% success rate across all its nine missions, including Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3.
The satellite will provide mobile network signals directly to smartphones in remote areas, bridging the digital divide.
