Fake HDFC Bank call costs Delhi resident Rs 1 lakh

Fake HDFC Bank call costs Delhi resident Rs 1 lakh

Some dishonest people played a trick on a man who lives in Delhi, India.

They called him on WhatsApp and pretended to work for a bank called HDFC Bank.

They told him they could give him a higher credit card limit, which sounded like a good deal.

The man believed them and shared his secret banking information.

Soon after, the tricksters used his credit card to buy things and spent more than one lakh rupees of his money.

The police worked hard to find out who did this.

They caught two people and learned that the stolen money was used to buy gold coins online.

Fake SIM cards were used to hide the criminals' identities.

The police are still looking for a third person who helped with the trick.

Remember, real banks never ask for your passwords or card numbers over the phone, so do not share them with strangers.
