NGT Slams DJB Over Toxic Drinking Water in Janakpuri
The water in Janakpuri, Delhi, has been found to have tiny bugs like Coliform and E. coli, which can make people sick.
Tests showed that the water is not safe to drink.
The government board in charge of water (DJB) was supposed to fix this, but they haven't.
The NGT, a special court, is upset because the DJB is not taking the problem seriously and ordered the CPCB to test the water again and ensure everyone gets clean water.
CPCB reported that several Janakpuri water samples were not potable due to Coliform and E. coli bacteria.
The NGT is hearing a plea from Janakpuri residents regarding contaminated water.
Six out of twenty water samples tested positive for total coliform and E. coli.
The NGT expressed disappointment over the DJB's casual approach.
DJB's chief engineer failed to fulfill his promise to fix contamination.
