Senator Probes Flock Safety’s Nationwide AI Camera Network

Senator Probes Flock Safety’s Nationwide AI Camera Network

Senator Josh Hawley is investigating a company called Flock Safety.

The company uses artificial intelligence cameras to record information about vehicles.

Police departments and other customers can search the records.

Hawley says the network is very large and covers most of the United States.

He is worried that people’s travel information could be misused or shared improperly.

He described cases where people allegedly searched license plates for personal reasons.

He also cited cases where the cameras or searches gave incorrect alerts.

Hawley wants the company to explain who can access the information and how it is protected.

Flock Safety’s response was not included in the announcement.
